West Village Parents was started in 2006 as a local chapter of Hudson River Park Mothers Group, and with their support we made the transition to our own independent group.  We will always be grateful to HRP Mamas!  Over the past decade, over 3000 families have been active West Village Parents members. In 2018 we added Chelsea to our name to officially recognize the very many members we have who live in Chelsea.

Our mission is to make parenting in the West Village, Chelsea, and surrounding areas easier by sharing local resources and adding to group knowledge in our message boards.  With consolidated local listing of service providers and events you don’t need to figure out how to take your baby in a taxi to, we strive to make the monumental transition to parenting just a tiny bit easier in whatever way we can.

We expect our members to be active participants in this mission, sharing parent wisdom, offering non-judgemental support to each other, and reaching out to organize meetups and other social and philanthropic events.  Because we all know, despite the cliche, it really does take a village to raise a child.
